Viskode Desktop Connector for monday.com
Web browsers block access to local file URLs from web pages as a security precaution to prevent malicious sites from accessing or executing local files without permission. While this protects users, it can also interfere with legitimate use cases, such as linking to local files within trusted tools like monday.com. To address this limitation, we developed the Viskode Desktop Connector, a lightweight companion app that securely bridges monday.com with your native operating system enabling safe access to local files and folders.
The desktop companion is extremely lightweight and secure. Its only task is to open the local file or folder URLs passed to it. No data is transmitted, and your system remains secure. If you have any concerns about the desktop companion app or need more information, feel free to reach out to us.
The Viskode Desktop Connector supports Windows 10 and 11, as well as macOS Monterey (version 12) or newer.

⚙️ Usage
Using the app is simple. Just install and run it.
- Keep the desktop app running in the background while using our apps on Monday, and they will automatically detect the desktop app and maintain a secure connection.
- The "Reset Connection" button and the "Settings" button are only for troubleshooting, as described in the troubleshooting documentation.
The central console displays logs of actions taken by our monday apps that interact with the desktop app. This log can help IT staff or Viskode support assist you more effectively.
We plan to remove this log console in future updates unless user feedback suggests otherwise.
After starting the app, you can minimize it and continue working in the monday.com platform.
🔒 Security
The Viskode Desktop Connection was developed with the security of your machine as a top priority. During its initial startup, it connects to our server and pulls the latest security configurations as required, since these configurations may change based on updates we push to the monday apps. The same update occurs when you click the "Reset Connection" button.
Apart from these instances, the Desktop Connector app does not create any internet connection. This means that, for almost the entire duration it is running, it operates locally on your machine, and your data remains local and secure. We encourage you to verify this yourself using network monitoring software.
